IA_FacadeAs summer turns to fall, it’s easy to look at the around and believe summer is hanging on. But look at the green grass and see the brown lying beneath. Look at the leaves and see the beginnings of the change of color. Look up in the sky past the birds singing their songs and spot a few geese taking their annual trip south.

We can not hang on to the season forever. It must change. The one certain in life is that there will be change. The only thing we can do is find the color in the day, find the joy in the change. It may be hiding, but it is there if we look hard enough.

Refreshment

One of the best places to find refreshment is in the beauty of nature. Every season has it’s own brand of beauty.

Spring is fresh and new. Summer is alive and growing. Fall is colorful and vibrant. Winter makes a statement with its stark beauty and grandness.

I challenge you to find the beauty of the season you’re in.

I invite you to take a walk today, go for a hike, or just go exploring. It’s refreshing!

Reflect Forward

Reflect Forward

My brother recently went through a major life change and as he did, he said something profound. He said that what once was, is no longer, and what is, is not good. That got me to thinking that in order to move forward in life, sometimes one must pause and reflect on what has been. Things change. People change. Situations change.

Perhaps what once was in your life is no longer. And perhaps what is, is good. Perhaps it is not. Pause. Reflect. And then keep moving forward.

God's Detours

About ten years ago God shut the door (slammed it really) to the job I was doing. I was devastated! But it started me on a journey to where I am today, doing what I absolutely love. It was a detour to success.

Trust Him. He really does have the BEST plans!

Beautiful Break

Beautiful Break

As a mom, wife, sister, daughter and entrepreneur I understand busy! The day’s demands never seem to end!

This image came out of a need to get away from it all. Ok, I wasn’t quite alone. My sister, my son and I got up at oh-dark-thirty one morning and went for a hike through the countryside. We stalked through cornfields, climbed through barbed wire fences, traipsed through knee high grasses, and came out on this lonely country road overlooking a never-ending sea of green. So peaceful, so silent, so isolated. As we walked along the two and a half miles of road to get back to our vehicle we had plenty of time to talk and reconnect with our selves outside of our busy lives.

When life seems to be too much, take a break; find someplace beautiful, and rediscover yourself.

Stand Out

Stand Out

It seems there is this constant battle within many of us between the desire to fit in with the crowd and the need to establish our individuality.

We (especially us women) constantly compare ourselves to others, checking if our clothing fits the latest fashion trends, if we’re having a good hair day like the woman next to us, or if it’s an out-of-control mess. We compare our jobs, our titles, our talents, even our relationships. Yet at the same time, we don’t want to be a wallflower, we want to be remembered for something great. We want people to remember our name the second time we meet them, we want to be recognized for our accomplishments and our reached goals.

Driving along a dirt road through a state park one day, this tree captured my attention. It is so unique, so tall and strong in appearance; so unlike the many trees that surround it. It stood out. And it reminded me of the battle within so many of us. While it may be similar to the other trees in that it has bark, and branches, and a trunk, it also stands out as unique and beautiful because of the lines and curves that make up its structure, because of the very thing it is lacking: leaves.

Embrace your unique makeup. The very thing you think you are lacking just may be the thing that shows off your beauty and strength.
